SII together with psychologists have developed an online course on the prevention of emotional burnout for volunteers. The full-scale war has been going on for almost a year, hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians have been helping military and IDPs (internally displaced persons) who have lost their homes and are fleeing active hostilities for more than 11 months. Each of these volunteers has an exhaustive amount of their own resources, and if it is not enough to worry about yourself and do not rest, one day there will be an emotional burnout. We have prepared this course for those who have already crossed the border and burned down, as well as for those who continue to volunteer and those who work with volunteers.

Course “How to tame emotional burnout?” will last 3 weeks, and will consist of 6 video lectures. In addition to them, you will get homework and practises that will allow you to start the reflection process, identify painful and complex issues, introduce new life strategies to prevent emotional burnout. Our psychologists will also communicate with you in chat and individually to check and analyse your homework.
We created this course together with Maryna Didenko, who is a PhD in psychology, a psychologist with 12 years of experience, a university teacher and an expert in the prevention of emotional burnout. Anastasya Medko, a psychologist who has been working with the Tbilisi-Shelter organization (Georgia) for more than 5 years, as an art therapist for human rights defenders.
The training course will be held in a closed telegram channel, where participants will receive tasks and video lectures, an appeal from psychologists in audio and video format, as well as a list of recommended literature, feature videos and podcasts. This chat will become a place for like-minded people who can actively reflect, exchange impressions, difficulties and support each other.

It is important to note that at the beginning of the course we will conduct psychological diagnostics of the emotional state of participants with the help of specially selected psychological tests.
You don’t have to wait for the “battery to sit down”, if you’re not sure what your condition is, we suggest taking a test and finding out the level of stress on the PSM-25 psychological stress scale. These questions will help you assess your own emotional state. There are no right or wrong answers, they are all yours and normal.
The “AID+” project is being implemented with the support of the Press, Education and Culture Department of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine.
